Description (Service) | Due to COVID-19 all 2020 summer camps are being offered virtually. Please contact or visit the website for additional details. Programs are residential (sleepover) camps, that provide recreational and camping experiences, for children living with cancer and their families. It admits children suffering from cancer, those in remission, siblings, bereaved siblings, and parents of children with cancer. Camp includes swimming, kayaking, canoeing, hiking, arts and crafts, drama, target sports, bonfires, and more. Medical support provided by the Nursing Director, and a team of nurses is on duty at all times, including trips out. Programs include: Residential Camp (Ages 8-15 years) - This 7 or 11 day sleepover program offers a special place for youth to explore nature and learn about themselves in a natural setting. Bus transportation is provided from designated locations. Family Camp (Ages newborn-17 years, and parents) - This 5 day overnight program provides an excellent opportunity for families to interact in a relaxing environment with others who have had similar life experiences. Families are required to provide their own transportation to and from camp. Teen Leadership Camp (Ages 14-15 years) - A seven-day program with a focus on leadership skills, group dynamics, wilderness, and first aid training. Volunteers should be at least 18 years old to be group leaders and special friends at camp. |
