Description and Service Details
Description (Service) COVID-19 Notice: In order to ensure a safe, healthy and secure environment for residents, the Chief Medical Officer of Health in Ontario has advised residential hospices to only allow essential visitors until further notice. Call ahead before visiting.

A home away from home * provides pediatric hospice care, residential support, respite and palliative care services for children who are medically fragile and technology dependent * optimizes the quality of the lives of children with life-limiting or life-threatening illness requiring complex and/or technology dependent care * services can be provided at home, or in hospitals and long-term care homes * volunteer opportunities available (temporarily suspended)

Core services offered: 
  • respite program (weekend respite stay is 48 hours and up to one week during peak times * day programs are also offered) (temporarily suspended due to COVID-19)
  • residential program offered extended comprehensive care to children who require more support than is available to them in their home environment
  • hospice palliative care provides three key services to families: respite care, transition to home support, and end-of-life care
  • therapeutic programs including music therapy, recreation therapy, pet therapy, art therapy, hydrotherapy, and multi-sensory Snoezelen therapy
