Description and Service Details
Description (Service) Provides a range of  support services to children, youth and adults who have developmental disabilities and their families

Community Day Services:
  • Innovations: offer a variety of activities, creating exciting opportunities for people to develop their skills while building relationships with others * offered Mon-Fri, 8am-4pm
  • Skills Training to Enable Personal Progress (STEPP): offers a variety of recreational opportunities, community engagement and volunteering and a strong focus on healthy living and personal growth
  • After School Respite: provides a safe and caring environment for children and young adults between the ages of 5 to 21 * activities include games, snoezelen room, community events, parks, music, sports, arts and crafts and life skills * offered Mon-Fri, 3pm-8pm

Speers Place Industries:
  • assists those 21 years or older who have a developmental disability to develop work skills in a supportive environment
  • work experience gained both in sheltered environment and selected community locations
  • may include a variety of light industrial jobs
  • contract work done on a regular basis for companies such as Ford, Sanford, etc.

Residential Services 
  • provides a variety of residential supports for people based on their individual needs
  • 24 hour support: provides support for up to 5 people residing in a group living setting

Supported Employment:
  • helps individuals to find/maintain employment in the community
  • job coaches work with the person and employer to achieve successful employment in the Oakville area
  • job coaches also provide support for a volunteer/work experience, work training and/or situational assessment

Transition Planner - Passages:
  • support to individuals with an intellectual disability who are still in school
  • provides more options for future planning through a closer liaison with the school boards in Halton region

After School Program:
  • program for students 5-21 years who have autism or PDD in a safe and caring environment 
  • activities include games, community events, parks, engaging through music, sports, arts and crafts, and life skills
  • Mon- Fri, 3pm-8pm
  • this is a purchase of service program

Donate your car:
  • working in conjunction with CharityCar and Green Vehicle Disposal to dispose of unwanted vehicles in an environmentally safe way
  • the recycled funds will assist CLO in accomplishing their goals and initiatives in educating the community to embrace individuals with developmental disabilities so that they can enjoy their right to lead active and productive lives
  • volunteer opportunities available
