Description (Service) |
Provides care to all women in need but also to women with low income, living in shelters, teen mothers with unplanned pregnancies, as well as new immigrants and refugees to the area * midwives see mothers and families in their clinic during pregnancy and then make home visits for the first two weeks after the baby is born, and again in clinic until the baby is six weeks old * babies are born either at home or in the hospital, depending on the risk assessment of the mother and baby, and the wishes of the mother and family * midwives are able to admit and discharge clients and access hospital resources needed by clients, including a consultation with a physician if there is a concern or complication |
