Description (Service) Mental Health services 
Brief services:  
Walk-in counselling clinic  
* quick access to therapeutic intervention where family members can see trained therapists or counsellors at their chosen moments of need  
* entire family or individual members may come to the clinic without an appointment during clinic hours 
As well as Milton, walk-in counselling is offered in: 
* Acton  
* Burlington  
* Oakville  
* Georgetown 
* all clinics are closed at Christmas 
Brief therapy  
* two to three sessions of therapy 
Counselling and therapy service: 
Group therapy  
* therapist works with groups of children or caregivers with similar needs to help them deal with specific challenges  
Intergenerational Trauma Treatment Program  
* three-stage program for caregivers and families of children who have experienced trauma  
* helps caregivers understand, cope with, and resolve the impact of trauma on their child and family  
* assists individuals and families in making desired changes in their lives 
* can lead to an overall improvement as they find ways to manage current problems, immediate crises, or long-term difficulties 
Crisis services: 
Crisis Response Program 
* provides immediate outreach for children and youth, their caregivers, and community members  
* Crisis Response number is 905-878-9785 and is connected to the Monday-Sunday 24 hour answering service  
* callers will then be connected with a crisis counsellor as soon as possible  
Family and caregiver skills building support 
Behaviour Consultation and Intervention:  
* available to both parents and child care staff when there is a concern regarding the child's behaviour  
Intensive Treatment services:  
Intensive Child Services 
* an in-home and/or community counselling and support program for children, youth and their families where there is risk of family breakdown, harm, or loss of school placement  
Residential services 
Aberdeen House 
Specialized consultation and assessment services: 
Psychology services  
* psychological assessments/consultations are considered for children and youth when there is a concern about learning, developmental, cognitive and/or social emotional functioning  
* process may consist of interviews with parents and other professions, observation, and individual testing  
Targeted prevention services: 
Youth Aiding Youth (YAY)  
* prevention/early intervention programs that serve young children who are identified as being "at risk” of developing mental health issues  
* overall goals are to help build on the children's self-esteem and social skills through a variety of programs including:  
Mentoring program:  
* matches volunteers ages 16-24 on a one to one basis with at-risk children ages 6-12  
Social skills development groups:  
* matches volunteers ages 16-24, on a one to one basis with at-risk children ages 6-12  
Social skills camps (week long):  
* offered at a fee of $150 for the week and is held 3 times, at various locations throughout the summer  
* traditional day camp program with a focus on social skills development for children between the ages of 6-10 years  
Child and Family Outreach and Support Program (C-FOSP) 
* available to infants and children residing in Halton and enrolled in a licensed childcare centre (not yet eligible for full-day kindergarten) or attending a licensed before and after school program (up to age 12)  
Services include:  
* behaviour consultation and support services  
* psychology services  
* therapy services  
* occupational therapy for children newborn to 3.8 yrs of age  
Prevention/early intervention programs 
Burlington Our Community Cares (community centres) 
* program works within the community to empower people and to help build skills in adults and children who are at risk for mental health problems  
* locations at Burloak and Warwick-Surrey housing developments in Burlington  
EarlyON Child and Family Centre 
* offers a variety of programs and services to families with children ages 0-6 years in Burlington 
Family engagement initiative 
* creates a place for families who have been impacted by a child or youth's mental health challenges to share their experiences, network with other families, and have a positive impact on services and programs in the community  
Positive Space Network: 
* a network of community social service agencies and local businesses working together to create safe and inclusive spaces for the LGBTQ+ populations of Halton
