Description and Service Details
Description (Service) An independent, not-for-profit blood authority that manages the national supply of blood products for all the provinces and territories (excluding Quebec) 
* screen all prospective donors to minimize the potential for transmission of infectious diseases 
* all donated blood undergoes extensive testing for infectious diseases, blood groups and compatibility 
* manages National Public Cord Blood Bank, the stem cell and marrow donor network for Canadian and international bone marrow transplants  
* ensures that Canadian transfusion research and development remains cutting edge 
* works with the Organ and Tissue Donation & Transplantation (OTDT) community to improve national system performance
Hours Burlington Donor Centre: Tue 3 pm-8 pm * Wed 3 pm-7 pm * Thu 11 am-7 pm * Fri 8 am-12 noon * Sat 8 am-1 pm 
 
Acton blood donor clinics: held every 3 months at the Legion, 15 Wright Ave * generally the fourth Thursday of the month, 3 pm-7 pm * see website to confirm dates and hours

* donors must register by providing proof of identity with full name and signature such as a donor card or full name and photograph such as a valid driver's license
