If you do not agree with an assessment, a disallowance or a decision issued by the Ministry, options are available to resolve the issue:

  • contact the ministry first to discuss the situation as informal discussions solve many disagreements and misunderstandings about tax and benefit program decisions
  • if you still disagree you have the right to send a Notice of Objection to the Advisory, Objections, Appeals and Services Branch
  • the page Objection and Appeal Procedures for Ontario Taxes and Programs provides complete details about the objection and appeal process
  • Ministry of Finance Tax Office representatives are available by appointment only
  • to meet with a representative call 1-866-668-8297
