Description (Service)

20+ member organizations of the Council are committed to ending violence against women and children

  • members include violence against women services, child welfare, counselling agencies, health services, education, justice, and legal services
  • active participation by those with lived experience through Survivor Advocates For Empowerment (SAFE)
  • community building, education, and advocacy services
  • no therapeutic services are provided

Sub-Committees

HVPC consists of on-going and ad-hoc sub-committees focused on a variety of projects, awareness campaigns, research projects, or training initiatives:

  • Co-Occurring Issues
  • Safety Planning Booklet
  • Sexual Assault Advisory Committee (SAAC)
  • Sexual Assault Awareness Month & Woman Abuse Prevention Month

Survivors Voices

  • a platform for the entire community to learn about sexual assault and to support survivors by providing a safe place for anonymous feedback to the Halton agencies of their choice
  • website is an initiative of the Sexual Assault Advisory Committee, to improve the experiences of survivors of sexual assault entering the justice system
