Public Parks

Sports Fields

  • the town provides outdoor sport field facilities for organized groups and casual users, and provides permits for all artificial turf fields

Park Ambassador Program

  • registered individuals, groups or businesses commit to "adopt" a specific trail or park for a minimum of two years
  • keep them litter free year round

Oakville Blooms

  • residents, businesses and organizations can contribute funds by sponsoring specific median and boulevard floral displays throughout the town
  • for more information, see here 

Goose Management Program

  • egg removal, turf sweeping and habitat modification
  • concentrates on nests on Lake Ontario shoreline, in the Bronte and Oakville harbours and along the Sixteen Mile, Fourteen Mile and Twelve Mile Creeks
  • by permit from the Canadian Wildlife Service, Town crews round up and relocate approximately 1000 geese every June to the Aylmer Wildlife Sanctuary

Gate and Park Access

  • approval is required before installing a gate in a Town fence separating private property and active parkland (fee applies)
  • if access is needed through a park or other Town owned lands with materials or equipment for projects on private land, a permit will be required (fee applies) 

Memorial Tree Program

  • you can adopt a tree in memory of a loved one, to dedicate to a friend or family member, or to commemorate a special event

Memorial Bench Program

  • gives you an opportunity to adopt a bench in memory of a loved one, to dedicate a bench to a friend or family member or to commemorate a special event

Community Gardens 
The Town of Oakville has four community gardens: (all allocations are currently full)

  • Kingsford Gardens – Sherwood Heights Drive and Kingsway Drive, east of Ford Drive
  • Lyons Lane – Lyons Lane and the South Service Road, east of Kerr Street
  • Memorial Park – Central Park Drive, west of Trafalgar
  • Shell Park – Lakeshore Road West between Great Lakes Boulevard and Chalmers Street, east of Burloak Drive 

  • garden plots are usually open between May 1 and Oct 31, for non-commercial use only
  • due to the high demand, the above locations are available to Oakville residents only
  • to place your name on a waitlist for one of the gardens, register for a garden plot online (current wait times are estimated at four years from the date of submission)
