Description (Service)

Helps young entrepreneurs explore and start new businesses

  • programs designed to offer support, training, mentoring and the potential for financial incentives
  • business planning and start-up resources
  • connect with experienced business consultants, who are also available to provide resources to local teachers and conduct in-class presentations on youth entrepreneurship and other business topics

Programs Include:

Summer Company

As part of a province-wide youth entrepreneurship strategy, the Ministry of Economic Development, Job Creation and Trade offers Summer Company delivered by Halton Region Small Business Centre

  • provides hands-on business training and mentoring if your application is accepted with awards of up to $3,000 (up to $1,500 for start-up costs, and up to $1,500 after successful completion of the program)
  • helps enterprising students start and run their own summer business and develop entrepreneurial skills and experience
  • business plans for program via online applications only
  • competitive program with limited spaces that fill up quickly

Futurpreneur Canada

Supports aspiring business owners, 18-39 yrs old

  • provides financing, mentoring and support to participants

Mon-Fri 8:30 am-4:30 pm


Summer Company

  • start date usually May to July
  • end date Labour Day (but you can choose to keep running your summer business while in school)
