Description (Service)

The Public Education Office of the Oakville Fire Department is responsible for fire safety education. 
 
Programs and events are offered throughout the year include:
 
Fire safety in the workplace

  • presentations on Fire Safety topics are delivered by staff to industrial or office locations upon request  

School education programs

  • available when requested by teachers
  • staff will attend schools and provide an education lesson to children
  • focus is on grades 4 & 5, however staff are available for younger ages and teenage groups/classes 

Cooking for Teens Fire Safety program 
 
Fire safety education for older adults

  • a fire safety officer will attend a variety of seniors groups and locations with messages prepared specifically for this group 

Fire safety for multicultural groups in the community

  • contact the office for special presentations for groups from a variety of ethnic backgrounds

Home Fire Safety Awareness program

  • involves visiting homeowners and discussing fire hazards in the home

Station tours

  • are available to the community for school children, Beavers, Girl Guides and Boy Scouts

  • each year, attempts are made to heighten public awareness of fire safety by hosting a Kick-Off to Fire Prevention Week
  • look for this event taking place in Oakville at the end of September
