Description (Service)

The Recreation and Culture department offers youth programs for a variety of interests including: 

Registered Programs

  • clay 
  • cooking and nutrition 
  • digital arts and technology
  • fibre arts
  • fine arts
  • fitness and wellness
  • learning and life skills
  • martial arts
  • sports
  • woodworking
  • youth leadership training
  • Browse regsitered programs and workshops online

Drop-in Programs

  • includes Badminton, basketball, volleyball, shinny, skating, and lengths swims
  • a safe and inclusive space for youth to hang out, play games, and more on Fridays at two community centres
    • Glen Abbey Community Centre
    • Queen Elizabeth Park Community and Cultural Centre (QEPCCC)
  • youth drop-in programs available at various community centres

The Drop

  • free activity nights for youth ages 11-17
  • activities like games, crafts and sports
  • have fun, hang out, listen to music, and make new friends
  • rotates through different community centres in Oakville

Oakville Youth Action Committee (OYAC)

  • intended to engage youth, aged 13-19, and provides opportunities for them to have a voice in our community, empower their peers and help shape the future of our town
  • plan events and impact youth programming, help your community, represent your peers, meet new people, have fun and learn new skills
  • earn volunteer hours towards your high school diploma
