A division of the Provincial Court, operating in some jurisdictions under a variety of titles, that provides special considerations for indigenous defendants with evidence procedures and sentencing alternatives in keeping with Aboriginal concepts of justice. Examples of such courts are the Spirit of the People/Gladue Court in Toronto, the Saskatchewan Cree Court and the Tsuu T'ina Nation Peacemaking Court in Alberta.

Programs that ensure that First Nations and Inuit children receive without delay or disruption the necessary educational, health and social services that other Canadian children receive and which are not otherwise available in their community. Local coordinators provide information, help with application forms, advocacy, support with the appeal process when the request is denied, and other forms of assistance according to a child-first principle, i.e. an approach that takes into account the child's circumstances, best interests and needs for services in a culturally appropriate manner. The government or department that first receives the request must provide the funding, so no jurisdictional dispute regarding the level of government responsible to fund services will affect or prevent a child's access to services. First Nations families can submit a request for services through the Jordan's Principle, named after Jordan River Anderson from Norway House Cree Nation in Manitoba who passed away before he could access the necessary care. Requests for Inuit children are made through the Inuit Child First Initiative. Eligibility of Métis children for these programs is dependent on whether they are registered (or eligible to be registered) or living on reserve.
