Disability Benefit Recipients

Previously employed individuals who have lost their earnings due to a physical or mental impairment severe enough to prevent them from working and who are receiving monthly cash benefits from a public or private source during the period of disability.

Employment Insurance Recipients

Unemployed individuals who are receiving cash grants which, for a limited period of time, partially replace income that has been lost due to lack of employment. Included are people who are currently receiving Employment Insurance benefits as well as those whose benefits have lapsed but who received payments sometime during the past several years.

Income Assistance Recipients

Individuals who are receiving financial assistance administered by provinces/territories because they cannot meet basic living costs and have no other sources of income. This may be due to a variety of reasons, including disability, illness, low income or unemployment.
