CommentsThe Youth Aiding Youth program at ROCK is seeking caring and dedicated volunteers to mentor children between the ages of 6-12 years old. The goal of this mentoring relationship is to support the child in developing their confidence, self-esteem and social skills, while providing them with an older positive role model and friend.

DutiesSpend time with a child aged 6 to 12 years, participating in fun & recreational activities. The goal is to develop social skills & self-esteem and to be a positive role model. This position is suitable for high school and college/university students. Interested candidates will be:  
 
-16 to 24 years of age 
-Looking to make a difference in the lives of "at-risk" children within Halton 
-Able to commit 3 hours a week for a minimum of 9 months  
-Matched on a one to one basis.

Benefits-Volunteering for 3 hours per week for one year works out to 156 hours of volunteer time for school or resume. 
-Volunteers will be able to gain hands on experience working with children while building leadership skills.  
-Volunteers will be able to build a valuable relationship with a child, make a difference in their life and see a child's confidence grow under their mentorship.
ClientsYouth Aiding Youth (YAY) is a targeted prevention program for children between the ages of 6-12 who are "at-risk" of developing a mental health issue in the future. YAY offers a variety of social skills programming for kids who need help developing their confidence, self-esteem, and social skills with their peers.

2. Must undergo an interview with the YAY Program Coordinator.  
3. Must provide three professional references.  
4. Must sign a confidentiality agreement.  
5. Must attain a Police Security Clearance (18 yrs +).  
6. Must participate in training.
