Duties Provide practical assistance as needed. Identify longer-term needs by responding to victim's concerns. Supply the victim with appropriate options and referrals to services in the community. Volunteers are on call to the Burlington OPP 24 hours a day. Volunteers are specially trained to provide short term emotional and practical support to victims of tragic circumstances, fatalities, serious personal injury, crime and road trauma.

Commitment Length Long Term - 6-8 shifts a month required
Interaction Level One-on-one ; Small Group
Dates and Times On call 24 hours a day 7 days a week.  
Volunteers select their own shifts. Times may vary. 
Shifts are from 7am-3pm, 3pm -11pm, 11pm-7am

Location As required in Halton region (i.e Burlington, Hamilton, Oakville).

Training Orientation - plus 20 Hours of training ; Training is provided ; Training on-going - Mandatory meetings 2nd Tuesday of each month. ; Police background check required and will be completed through the program.
Transportation Driver License required ; Car required - Own transportation is essential

Additional Requirements Mature, responsible. 3 references (personal and business). Knowledge of community resources. Knowledge of law, as pertaining to victims. Canadian Citizenship.
