Adult Day Program volunteers engage with older adults and seniors diagnosed with a cognitive impairment, potentially mid-to-late stage dementia.  An understanding of dementia and a willingness to adapt to changes in the cognitive abilities of clients an asset.

Duties

As a volunteer you’ll help staff run the programming and activities that make the program so much fun. This might be playing games or completing puzzles, assisting with art or music sessions, or simply having a quiet conversation with a client.

ClientsTwo types of Clubs are available. Our integrated Clubs are designed for adults who are at risk of social isolation due to a diverse range of challenges, including the early stages of dementia, cognitive impairments and/or physical challenges. Our dementia-specific programs are tailored to people living with mid to late stage dementia.

Commitment LengthLong Term - We ask for a minimum or a 1 year commitment ; We ask you to assume an ongoing commitment, upon completion of your orientation, for a minimum of one year.  
We are very understanding and accommodating of vacations/ holidays, personal and sick time but no one wants to make a friend only to have them leave within a month or two.
