Duties

Able Living has been supporting seniors and adults with physical and cognitive impairments for over 40yrs.  Join us in this fun opportunity to help break down barriers and support an adult to live independantly in the community.

We are seeking an individual, or small group with an interest in supporting healthy eating.  Support is needed to assist a client with meal preparation on a weekly basis. 1-2hrs each week, schedule is flexible to meet the needs of the client and volunteer.

Additional support for clients may include helping to educate on healthy eating and nutrition - support will be provided by staff

Safe Food Handling certificate is an asset, but not required. 

Benefits Gain experience working with adults with disabilities, physical or cognitive impairments, provide hands on support in the daily nutrition of an individual, supporting the goals of an individual to live independantly, experience with good preparation, ongoing recognition from the agency, documentation for hours of service provided, reimbursement for vulnerable sector screening and TB testing after required hours of service, letter of recommendation considered for exceptional volunteers after completing 40hrs of service

Able and willing to learn how to prepare foods that can be accessed by client easily at a later date
Commitment Length Medium Term (4 months to 1 year) ; Long Term ; Position is currently expected to require 3-6months of support. Extension may be welcome if client and volunteer agree
