Summit Housing & Outreach Programs (Summit) is an established non-profit charitable organization established in 1981, that provides a variety of supportive housing and outreach case management services throughout the region of Halton (Burlington, Oakville, Milton, Georgetown, and Acton) for people living with serious mental health and/or substance use concerns. Summit Housing & Outreach Programs is governed by a volunteer Board of Directors and our programs and services are funded by Ontario Health and the Ministry of Health.

Duties

The Board of Directors for Summit seeks interested and committed community members to join our Board of Directors. We are currently looking for individuals with expertise in:

·        law/legal services

·        finance

·        development/fundraising

·        community engagement

·        human resources

·        housing

You will become part of a progressive governance team that provides oversight, guidance, strategic planning, risk management, and quality assurance to an innovative and impactful organization.

As a member of the Summit Board of Directors, you will be provided with opportunities for training and education regarding relevant Board roles/responsibilities and emerging trends/issues in our sector. You will have the opportunity to participate on designated Board committees, where your expertise and interests can be fully engaged.

Board members (on 2 year terms with option to extend) are expected to attend the regularly scheduled board meetings held on the last Tuesday of the month. Board meetings are approximately 2 hours in length and are scheduled each month except for December, July and August. Meetings will take place onsite (2305 Wyecroft Road, Suite 200, Oakville) or virtually via video teleconference.

Additionally, Board committees meet quarterly and members are encouraged to participate on a committee(s) that meets their interest and skill sets. There are also opportunities to participate in organizational and sector-wide events as your availability allows.
