Duties

Responsibilities:

  • Transportation of Donated Goods: Drive the donations truck to scheduled pick-up locations to collect donated items such as furniture, appliances, and household goods.

  • Loading and Unloading: Safely load donated items onto the truck, ensuring proper securing and organization to prevent damage during transit. Assist with unloading items at designated drop-off points.

  • Safety Compliance: Adhere to all traffic laws and safety regulations while driving the donations truck. Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections to ensure the vehicle is in safe operating condition.

  • Customer Service: Provide friendly and courteous service to donors, representing Habitat for Humanity positively at all times. Communicate effectively with donors to coordinate pick-up times and address any questions or concerns.

  • Team Collaboration: Work closely with Habitat for Humanity staff and fellow volunteers to coordinate donation pick-ups and deliveries.

  • Record Keeping: Maintain accurate records of donation pick-ups and deliveries, including documenting donor information and item descriptions. Provide necessary documentation to donors and Habitat for Humanity staff as needed.

  • Vehicle Maintenance: Report any mechanical issues or maintenance needs to Habitat for Humanity staff promptly. Keep the donations truck clean and well-maintained both inside and out.

Accessibility Not Accessible ; The shifts are yet to be determined, but anticipate we will be running trucks 3 x week for approx. 4 hours in the mornings (but this is also flexible). You would not be required to commit to all 3 shifts, this could be 1 shift a week or bi-weekly. We are looking to build a roster of drivers to accommodate busy schedules.
Location DEPARTURE SITE - TBD, but either Burlington (1800 Appleby Line) or Mississauga (4500 Dixie Road).
