CommentsThe Mississauga Furniture Bank (MFB) was established in 2010 to help those in the community struggling with housing stability. Serving all of Halton and Peel Regions we help to turn a place to live into a home by connecting recycled and gently used furnishings from the community with people who need them. Our vision is to see that everyone has a furnished home.

DutiesThe Board of Directors provides strategic leadership to the organization by committing to excellence in governance and ensuring the organization’s overall health in the maintenance of its goals and mandate. 
• Attend regularly scheduled Board meetings on a monthly basis (approx. 2 hours in the evening from 7 – 9 on every last Tuesday of each month) 
• Prepare for regular and committee meetings 
• Join and contribute to board committees 
• Represent MFB at community events and other functions 
We encourage applications from those individuals who are familiar with the Peel and Halton Communities, its diversity and resources. Previous experience serving as a volunteer Board Member or another governance role would be an asset, but not required. 
MFB is looking for individuals with a background in accounting, fundraising, marketing and social services. Training will be provided for all new board members.

ClientsIndividuals in the community struggling with housing stability. New and gently used furnishings from individual and corporate donors are distributed to: 
– those transitioning from homelessness 
– refugees 
– youth living on their own 
– families living below the poverty line 
– victims of domestic violence 
– the elderly 
– those with disabilities 
– those who have lost all to fire, a natural disaster or personal tragedy
