Duties | We are looking to conduct 20 inclusive and creative ‘Exploring Dreams’ interview experiences with consenting adults who identify as having a developmental disability and volunteers (research assistants). Research assistants will engage participants through a variety of accessible and creative interview activities that will be designed and led by Inclusive Community Engagement Researcher, Heryka Miranda. The interview process will be experiential in nature and will include individual and group art-making activities using visual arts, movement and dance, and visualization/breathing exercises. Light snacks and refreshments will also be provided. Each of the 20 interview experiences will include five different participants from the developmental disabilities community and five volunteers/research assistants. The duration of the interview experiences will be 2.5 hours and will run from January to August, 2019 (one-to-three interview experiences will be held each month). We are looking for volunteers who are: • Committed to the rights of people with disabilities to live dignified lives • Not related to participating adult with disability • Creative, and open-minded • Patient, flexible and understanding • Supportive and compassionate • Responsible and maintains confidentiality • Excellent listeners and creative communicators • Artistic or have an appreciation for the arts • Able to work as part of a team • MUST attend mandatory volunteer training - January 26 • Available for first interview experience on Monday, January 28, 4pm to 7pm. | ||
