Outreach Coordinator (Recycling Revisited)

(Community Development Halton, Volunteer Halton)

Position ID: V-HVC0937 Last Full Update: 21 Oct 2019
Opportunity Details
CommentsWe are a registered non-profit organization with a long background in the pioneering of city-wide recycling in Canada, under the organization name of Citizens' Committee for Pollution Control (CCPC: 1970-1983). Like CCPC, we are interested in recycling issues, plus other environmental issues. Busy with a number of projects and concerns, we have fallen away from some contacts with supporters and other organizations. We need to take action now.

We welcome all members to attend our biweekly meetings on a drop-in basis or regularly. At this time we need more members who can attend in person, but welcome members from a distance or unable to attend, to participate by teleconferencing. In recent years we have been very diverse with regard to ethnicity, gender, and age. At this time, we strongly welcome about 5 "student Members", with at least 5 or more adult members because of the inevitable end-of-semester absences by students. We respect the priority of studying, but the loss of 5 young members affects our continuity. Welcome all!

DutiesWe are a friendly grassroots organization with a lot of energy and ideas to put into action in an exciting year ahead.

The Outreach Coordinator will help get our records organized and keep track of new contacts effectively:
- reconnect with previous contacts
- connect with Citizens' Committee for Pollution Control (CCPC) participants to add to our newsletter distribution
- prepare invitations for the celebration of our 50th anniversary of City-Wide Recycling (initiated in May of 1970)

We are open to some guidance and training in better organizing of information and details.also, you likely will be working with a collaborator. We find that it is important to have each person ready and able to stand in for the other, in circumstances of the other person being absent.
