376 Plains Rd. E., Burlington ON, L7T 0A4 - the office of Kay Fisher Realty. (Directions below).
We have a small Board (President, Vice President, Secretary, Treasurer). At this time, we are seeking an appropriate Vice President. Our preference for the VP position would be a person with prior experience at a business level or an organizational level.

Also, our experience is suggesting that each member of the Board should have a "Backup" person qualified to step in when circumstances lead to temporary or permanent absence from the his/her position. A "Backup" could act as an informal assistant to one of the Board members, as part of being prepared to step in if needed for a short time or permanently.

Duties of the Vice President would include: Supporting the responsibilities of the President which include: preparing for Board meetings; Chairing those meetings; having overall leadership and oversight of all elements of the organization and its responsibilities as a registered Not-For-Profit organization; dealing with any developing or arising crises or problems in the ongoing functions of the organization; keeping the organization "on track" with the values, vision, and other foundational elements of the organization. The position of Vice President is an ongoing collaboration with the President.

- To join the Recycling Revisited Development Committee
(Strong interest in the environment, community history or citizen action; We are looking for diverse members).
- To engage in discussion, planning, advising, brainstorming and assisting with new projects. We have spent the last year (2018)producing a short documentary and a student level book about the citizen action in the 1970s and 1980s that led to Burlington being the first municipality in Canada to hire a contractor for an ongoing curbside recycling program. This organization was CCPC (Citizens' Committee for Pollution Control, 1970-1983) and we have deep roots in it. We also need to do some organizational work on bylaws and new procedures.

We need to create policies and procedures for making the public aware of the documentary, books, database and new website. We also need to gain more funds for printing of them and costs of our projects. We need to decide what projects to choose in this "fresh start" after our production year, that would be consistent with our Mission of inspiring today's citizens to take action on their current environmental concerns. This is of course in the large perspective of global warming.

Driver Volunteer   Burlington  Halton Hills  Milton  Oakville
Halton Children's Aid Society, Burlington Office

Our Volunteer drivers play an extremely valuable role in the lives of our children in care. As a driver, you become a familiar and friendly face the children can depend on, someone who will listen to their stories and bring a smile to their faces at what can be a very confusing time in their lives.

If you have a few hours to spare a week, enjoy driving and love children then this is the volunteer role for you. Volunteer drivers take children and on occasion parents, to various appointments: therapy sessions, family visits, counselling sessions, court dates, support groups, and other important meetings.

Drivers are currently needed during day time hours. Some do a specific drive or two each week, others are called upon on a daily basis and yet others do once a month. We are always in need of reliable, readily available volunteer drivers.

Peer Mentor   Burlington
Bridge (The), Halton, From Prison to Community
In the community in Halton or meet with clients at the Burlington office 460 Brant St. Unit 209
The Bridge Halton Allyship Program has two different streams:
1. COMPANION
A companion does not require personal experience with the justice system. Companion’s become an ally by providing support to program participants as they reintegrate into the community.

2. PEER MENTOR
A peer mentor is someone who has lived experience with the justice system and wishes to use that experiential knowledge to provide peer support to program participants.

Peers and companions will meet with program participants in the community once a week for a minimum of an hour. There will be "check-ins" and "check-outs" with the volunteer coordinator. There will be a monthly meeting for volunteers to get together and debrief their volunteer experience.

Peers and companions support program participants with their reintegration goals and do not perform counselling or case management duties. Peers and companions will support clients to be independent and provide guidance when a program participant is struggling. The only difference between the two roles is a peer has experiential knowledge and a companion does not have that lived experience. Therefore, the dynamic of the relationship will be slightly different. However, both roles are equally important to help program participants reintegrate back into the community and reduce the barriers of oppression.

Students are encouraged to slow down and to look for the elements of design in nature, and they are reminded that nature has always acted as inspiration for art, design, and architecture. At the end of each workshop, there is a celebration with a slideshow of each students' 10 favourite images, and we give "extension activities" to teachers and students so that they can continue to learn.
