Good communication skills, good listening skills, friendly telephone manner, sensitivity towards isolated older adults. Confidentiality and reliability are a must. Second languages urgently required: Urdu, Punjabi, Hindi, Kashmiri, Arabic, Italian and Portuguese.
Our volunteers act as positive role models to children of all ages throughout Halton. Individuals are matched with a child/youth in need and spend time doing recreational or social outings in the community. In as little as a few hours a month you can make a significant difference in the life of a child.

We understand and appreciated that each volunteer's skill may not fit with every task.
Based on your background, expertise & special interest, you could help with various organizational initiatives such as marketing, communication, social media, event management & coordination, youth & community engagement, fundraising, donations, program support, administrative support, coaching, recreation, program activities, teaching assistance, education support, general assistance, transportation, food prep, kitchen work, meal preparation, usher, server, games, sports etc.
Volunteers will be paired at every other hole from 8:30am - 2:30pm
The funds raised at these events goes towards providing programs for children in care, such as bursaries, camps, educational programs and seasonal gifts through the Children’s Aid Foundation of Halton.
Weekly visit one of our wonderful clients' in their home. During your visit you can chat over coffee, play a game of cards, visit the library or museum, run some errands together - like grocery shopping...these are just a few ideas.
You'll be helping keep seniors and psychically challenged adults active, independent and happy.
Youth are divided into teams to work together and meet the challenges set out each day. It will be up to the youth to problem solve to win the RACE. The race is part of the whole camp experience and each day youth have the opportunity to win points and prizes as they complete each task and get closer to the final challenge.
The race includes trip to Toronto, Hamilton and Burlington. Volunteers join our specially trained counsellors and assist in all areas of the camp program. Energy, patience, and a keen sense of humour are the key qualifications for this role. This position is especially rewarding for students who are thinking of a career in social work or teaching.
Special Needs Baseball
Softball specially designed for teens and adults with special needs. The focus is on participation and getting active, no experience is necessary. Volunteers will assist staff in facilitating the games, engaging and encouraging participants. Participants vary in age from youth to adult. Volunteers must be 16 years of age or older.

Soccer specially designed for teens and adults with special needs. The focus is on participation and getting active. Volunteers will assist staff in facilitating the games, engaging and encouraging participants. Participants vary in age from youth to adult. Volunteers must be 16 years of age or older.
Tyke and Novice Basketball League
Get out and give it a shot! This recreational league focuses on teaching basketball skills in a progressive manner while encouraging participation to maximize success and growth of every player. Under the guidance of a coach, players learn the fundamentals of the game through sound instructional skill, drills, teamwork and game situations. Each week the team practices a skill and plays a game!
Junior and Senior Volleyball League
This program focuses on the development of skills, sportsmanship, self- esteem, teamwork and fair play. These elements will be highlighted through instructional drills, game strategies and gameplay. Each team will practice their skills and participate in a weekly game.
We are looking for volunteers who would like to work with our Social Media team (interviewing, editing, video and photo) and to work with our Theatre group (writing play scripts, rehearsing lines, setting up final stage presentation)

- Help in organizing training, info sessions, workshops and events to celebrate seniors in your communities
- Support and encourage social participation and inclusion of seniors
- Participate in the creation of flyers, calendars and other promotional materials for the purpose of the SEEN project
- Assist with the production and distribution of promotional materials
- Perform outreach activities and other related duties as required
As a Game On! Facilitator your role is to lead a group of 10-12 grade 6 to 8 boys in a 10 week program focusing on active living, balanced eating and feeling positive about themselves.
