Description and Service Details

Description (Service)

A program administered by Halton Women's Place to protect pets from violence

  • if a woman is seeking shelter and has a companion animal, the shelter will work closely with the client, local veterinarians, animal welfare agencies, pet boarding facilities and volunteers to help in keeping their pet safe

Services may include:

  • any veterinary care or vaccinations that are needed
  • safe transport out to a nearby kennel or boarding facility
  • support in facilitating visits between women/children and their pets during their stay at Halton Women's Place

Initially created in collaboration with the Ontario Veterinary Medical Association

  • funded through collaboration with PetSmart Charities through grant support and fundraising efforts where possible
