Description and Service Details
Description (Service) Provide language assessments and referrals to the appropriate language training programs. 
* individuals must complete a language assessment before they can register for government funded language classes 
Federally funded programs:  
* Language Instruction for Newcomers to Canada (LINC) 
* Cours de langue pour immigrants au Canada (CLIC) 
* Enhanced Language Training (ELT) 
* Occupation Specific Language Training (OSLT) 
Provincially funded programs: 
* English as a Second Language (ESL) 
* French as a Second Language (FSL) 
* Bridge to Work (BTW) 
* Specialized Language Training (SLT) 
* a Language Assessment Centre is located in Oakville and also provides language assessments at itinerant locations in Burlington and Milton  
* appointments will be made at the most accessible and convenient location for the client
Hours Mon-Fri 9 am-4 pm * evening and Sat appointments available
Areas Served Halton Region
Eligibility Ages: 18 year(s) and up 
All will be eligible for CLARS, except those 
* who were born in Canada 
* are just visiting with a temporary visa (visitors)
Application Language assessments are by appointment only at the itinerant sites * walk in clients accepted at the Oakville site * call the Oakville CLARS Language Assessment Centre to book an appointment at any location
