Description and Service Details

Description (Service) Halton Region's Health Department conducts case management for all diseases of public health significance Registered Nurses and Infection Control Specialists:
  • complete investigations of diseases of public health significance (reportable diseases) including respiratory, and blood-borne reportable diseases
  • review and assess applications for mandatory blood testing of Emergency Service Workers under the Mandatory Blood Testing Act
  • ensure infection prevention and control programs are in place in long-term care homes, retirement homes and child care centres
  • respond to respiratory outbreaks in long-term care homes and retirement homes
  • provide input into hospital infection prevention and control program
  • conducts investigations for all reported adverse events following immunization
