Description and Service Details
Description (Service) Services altered in response to COVID-19 (Coronavirus) * Nursing and Personal Support: Operating normally with added screening and infection prevention precautions. * Adult Day Programs: CLOSED until further notice. Caregiver support is still available via phone. * Volunteer Visits: In-person visits are suspended until further notice, volunteers will be checking in with clients via phone. * Caregiver Support Groups: In-person support groups are cancelled and virtual groups have been set up. Please watch your email for details on how to join the virtual groups. ------------------------------------------------------- Helps older adults and adults with limited mobility by providing friendly social contact and physical activity (depending on ability) * all volunteers are supervised by program coordinators and training is provided as necessary * programs are available throughout Halton * visits usually happen once a week for 1-2 hours

Services include:

Friendly visiting
  • volunteers provide one-on-one support and friendship to frail or isolated seniors living in their own homes
  • visits may include in-home visits as well as accompaniment in the community for errands, shopping and outings (depending on client's ability)

Memory visiting
  • provides companionship and physical activity for people experiencing memory loss and the early stages of dementia
  • consists of about one hour weekly in-home visits or short outings (depending on client's ability)
  • visits are provided by specially trained volunteers

Home support exercise program
  • designed to improve strength, balance and mobility while preventing falls
  • specialized exercise program provided in the client's home once a week by trained volunteers
